General
Do you have a satisfaction guarantee?
Yes! We offer a 90-day, no-questions-asked, money-back guarantee.
Do you require a long-term service contract?
No. While our standard pricing is based on a one year commitment , month-to-month
arrangements are available.
How secure is my data?
Your data is kept in two Tier 1 data centers, each physically separate from each
other. (see technical solution)
What is your Service Guaranty?
Our contract includes a strong Service Level Agreement which clearly defines performance
standards and provides credit reimbursement if the guaranteed service level outlined
in the agreement is not met.
Can I use my existing tape backup system in conjunction with your service?
Yes.
Will your solution work with my company's firewall?
Yes. One advantage to onsite setup is that the backup will be fully functioning
before the technician leaves.
How do I sign up?
Call our order line now to have us get you online and backed up right away! Or,
request a
price quote online.
How is DPS different from the under $20 per month backup systems?
Those solutions are designed to backup PCs and don't need the level of guarantees
or support that business critical data residing on servers does.
Where is DPS located?
We have two data centers located in Texas and New Jersey. Data is synchronized between
them so that you have redundancy in two physically separate locations over 1,000
miles apart.
Does your service require a lengthy contract?
No. We don't require contracts lengthy service agreements, but we discount our price
for contract clients. We offer a one, two, and three year service agreement, with
the lowest prices for the longer terms.
Is your service more reliable than tape backups?
Tape backups present several major risks. First, even when all indicators point
to successful backups, the restores fail. Secondly, most companies using tape systems
don't employ a secondary fail-safe system. Our system has redundancy built in.
Won't mirrored/RAID hard drives protect my data from viruses or data loss?
Mirrored hardware is designed to protects data from a hardware failure. Most data
loss is due to data corruption or user error where mirrored equipment offers no
protection because corrupt data gets instantly written to the mirror equipment.
Backup
Can you back up my home PC?
The small and medium-sized businesses that take advantage of DPS’ automated on line
backup, tend to have more frequent back up, larger amounts of data to store, and
specific recovery needs that are different from end users.
How long does the backup take?
Because the initial backup requires transmission of all your server’s data, the
onsite technician will load your data onto a portable device for immediate delivery
to the local data center.
After the initial load, our proprietary technology transmits only the changed portions
of changed files during each backup session. The length of the download depends
on the size of your backup, speed of your Internet connection, and amount of changed
data. Our average client backs up in less than 30 minutes per night.
How do you secure my data?
We utilize two main security protocols to secure your data. First we offer password
protections to authorized users. Second, your data is encrypted prior to transmission
and then stored in an encrypted state in our data centers.
How is DPS’ online backup different from uploading data to an FTP site?
DPS’ data backup includes compression, encryption, and data transport. Uploading
data to an FTP site is only a transmission process.
How often will my computer be backed up?
It’s recommended for most users to backup each night when the office is closed.
If you would like more frequent backups, please call our sales team to discuss your
needs
Will DPS backup all Operating System and “System State” information?
Yes. Our backup agents have the ability to backup all necessary information to perform
a complete, full restore on all supported platforms.
Do you backup open files too?
Yes! Open files, as well as Exchange mail server, and your server’s “system state”
(settings of critical system related components – extremely useful in restoring
your server after a crash) are all backed up.
Should I backup the entire server or just the data files?
While our solution offers the ability to completely backup and restore all supported
platforms, some clients back up only some or all data files. One limitation to only
backing up data files is the limited restore capabilities associated with that.
Please speak to one of our technical experts for a personalized analysis of your
data.
Can I backup multiple servers at the same or different locations?
A single LAN administrator can configure backups and perform instant restores for
all computers even at remote sites. Thus, your entire organization's backups can
be remotely managed from any Windows machine (firewall/VPN permitting). Please speak
with our technical experts if you need help with setup.
What if corrupted files are backed up by mistake?
While the corrupt files do get backed up and stored on in our data vaults, a backlog
of prior data stores will let you go back and restore files from the last uncorrupted
data files. We recommend keeping a 30 day history to work from.
What if a transmission or connection failure occurs during the backup?
If a transmission is interrupted in the middle of a backup, the DPS software will
continue to retry until a connection can be re-established, then continue the backup
where it was interrupted.
What operating systems do you support?
We currently support all versions of Microsoft’s Windows Server (NT, 2000, 2003,
Small Business Server) as well as Windows XP.
Does DPS work on Macintosh computers?
Not natively, but often they can be backed up via networked-mapped drives from a
Windows or Linux-based computer.

Can I do a "full" recovery including the System State and Active Directory?

System State and Active Directory information.
Can I restore to an alternate location to avoid overwriting a file?
Yes.
